bailout

July 24, 2008

So there are a lot of a’hooting and a’hollering over the “bailout” of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  Both sides of the aisle disagreed with it but the moderate (and mostly left) felt that it was necessary to stabilize the market.  In the house hearing committee last week the mostly GOP side advocated that such explicits commitment to the the failing banks will endanger the public and cost billions if not trillions of dollars.  Personally I’m not a big fan of government intervention and over regulation but in this case i would i to say that backing up fannie and freddie is (as mentioned) necessary.  some points to consider:

1) the reason for fannie and freddie being in this mess in the first place is that they were extremely under-regulated.  Instead of having the proper capital needed to maintain a secured buffer in case turmoils in the market, they spent it on lobbyist to persuade politicians that they didnt need that buffer.

2)  the bill would require an independent regulator to oversee both fannie and freddie.

3)  400 million are going to communities to buy up foreclosed homes and help stabilize local markets.

4)  just a couple months ago with bear stearns was going under, the GOP noted that this company must not fail and support (funded) JP Morgan buy out if them.  They argued that if an entity so large and global failed, the world market will collapse.  Yet with fannie and freddie, whos wroth is 4000x that of bear, they turn a blind eye to that very same fact.

Painting disaster

July 8, 2008

This is ludicrous: The US refutes the notion of a timetable, even though it’s being suggested by the Iraqis themselves.

Now we’re not talking about immediate withdraw or even a “rigid timeline”. All they want is some sort of chronological framework to go about getting back their own country.

Imagine this, you want to paint your living room and so you asked a friend to come over and help (well in the case of the US it was more like the friend thought it was a good idea to paint the room and force his way into your house). Anyways, once he’s there, he’s screwing the whole thing up; there’s paint on the carpet, the lamp is broken, he stepped on the cats tail, hit u in the back of the head, and on top of that…he’s not even using the right color! Finally you ask him to leave, politely, and he refuses! He’s saying something about seeing this through to the end and making sure you’re happy, all while having no clue what he’s doing. Now what would you do in this situation?

Hillary, your a bitch

May 23, 2008

Hillary demands that the votes in Florida and Michigan to count.

Shes claiming that Obama does not care about these voters.

She blindly denies that she too agreed to take her name off the ballot but in fact didnt.

She is making her claim that w/o these 2 states, the democrats will lose the nomination.

She is relentless, and aim to get as close as she can to Obama’s delegate count.

She will take this all the way to the notional convention. There she will make this case:

“i have fucked up Obama so bad in Florida and Michigan that we will lose those states if you dont elect me as the nominee. the race is pretty close so people wont think anything is weird about me losing in every form of [legal] delegate count yet still winning the nomination. if you dont McCain will run away with this. C’mon!”

Free Education

May 15, 2008

education should be free (even colleges, universities, and some trade schools).

lets consider this simply fact; public schools k-12 is free (paid for my our taxes).  Of course, they’re not the greatest of institutions, nonetheless, it does help society and the general public become, by all intents purposes, better.  show me one person that disagrees with this fact and i will show you an idiot with no commonsense.

However, in the past a high school education was enough.  After achieving it, one can go into the work force, maintain a career, have a family, and retired with grace.  But what’s most important about getting a high school diploma then; is the knowledge you obtain to make you a better, more inform, social conscience person.

In those time, colleges and universities were considered “higher learning”.  they were places that didn’t settle with sufficiency, but places to be enlighten at.  These were institution where you find who you are and struggler to gain as much knowledge as you can.  However, those days have past, at least in the under graduate sense.  Speaking as a person that finished his under grad and is pondering the idea of graduate school, i know exactly what that means.

maybe its the generational gap, maybe it’s the decline of public education, maybe it’s the unrealistic sense of the world, but whatever’s the case, high school just doesn’t cut it anymore.  And in turn, undergraduate education isn’t what it use to be.

so here’s my proposal, make community colleges free, subsidize public state universities, and federally fund trades schools (specifically nursing and other medical care related field where we have a shortage of).  With this new principle, we will built a more intelligent society as a whole, and hopefully a more safe and profitable one.  The cost for this however will not be small.  It will take a lot of work, and a lot of money to implement.  But if one can quantify the gains we will achieve from it in the long run, i believe it’s worth it.

May 2, 2008

ok haven’t wrote here in awhile. been busy with a couple of stuff at work, building my site, and just plain being lazy. so with that i give u my rant…

Myli Cyrus (i dont know how to spell her name and i dont care about her enough to look it up). I give her credit to disney. they have long been able to get young kids and their parents to spend stupid amounts of money on really useless, really unoriginal, really annoying things. they package it in a way that makes it fun, colorful, and most of all wholesome. Even with the scandal with that nude girl from High School Musical, the pregnant young Spares, and recently the image in Vanity Fair of a [again] nude Myli, it all still wont faze disney one bit. You may ask how can this happen…will thats simple. because when it’s all said and done, the notion of kids will be kid/people will do what they want to do stills holds up. in a week or two time people will write it off as “just one of those things” and disney will be on the move again. Looking to build any immature franchise.

the war in iraq sucks. i mean, ok, taking out Sadam, good. he was pretty evil and i didnt like him anyways. but now what do we have? we got al-qaeda in iraq, which wasnt there in the first place. we got Moqtada Al-Sadr and his militia, who i dont necessary agree with but can understand. we got bin-laden there in Pakistan, which we’re not going near. we got afghanistan and for what? hell if i know. we not putting enough money in there to do anything! and al-qaeda is now world wide. they have no central organization or head. we need to think smarter, more flexible, and SMARTER!

**side note**imaging our country was being invaded by another (not attacked, invaded!) They siege control of our government and started killing/imprison anyone who would stand up against them. in fact, just the suspicion of you being one of these people will warrant them to detain and imprison you. what do you do? do you oblige quietly and listen to these invaders? do you raise your hand and question the establishment? do you join a militia and retake what is your’s? is this when we finally see the importance of the 2nd amendment? is this when we finally know what it’s like to be weak but having to fight? now ok you can relax. it’s not us. but it is the iraqis. this war we made ourselves. now we’re trying to fix it. first with force, then with money. now we just dont know what to do. it’s sad really. though i criticize, point out the flaws, i still have no answer. this is a lot more complicating than any one person can comprehend. but that’s that point isn’t it. we all need to stop trying to fix a problem we dont even understand yet…because you know what, we might just fuck it up even more.

why the fuck is weed illegal? here are the facts: 1) weed harms your body just as much as cigarettes and alcohol and as addictive. 2) the notion that weed is a gateway drug is as idiotic as thinking that going to a recreational shotting range will lead to you trying to blow up a public building. 3) medical marijuana can be a godsend to people fighting arthritis, glaucoma, depression, and insomnia. 4) shit its legal in Amsterdam. 5) the money we would make from the legalization of it (tax revenue, jobs creation) would not only take away from the gangs and dug dealers, but would better support our nation.

i get confuse by barack. sometimes he seems like a confident man with a strong sense of who he is and what he believes in. other times, he contorts to what people what to him to say and how is should act. I dont like this “High road” campaign thing hes going for. Stop trying to be nice and (as some may say) be real! Dont defend what you said, elaborate on it (like he did with the speech on race issues in america). push back if need be. call that bitch out. how is her being a conic liar not hurting her as much as some guy u know making inflammatory remarks damaging you? i dont care even if he was your spiritual adviser…how the fuck does that matter? you denounced him in public already ok, but what i suggest was that you tell people what this man was and how you guys are friends/were friends. and like all friends you guys have disagreements. he keeps you grounded. listening to him make you realize who you are. and like all intelligent people, you can differentiate between what rhetoric is and what conversation is.

**another side note**Hilary, shut the fuck up. you lost. that’s rite…lost! not losing, but lost. dont bust a George Bush and lose the popular vote and try to win via [super]delegate votes. You know that’s what you’re doing rite?

Iron Man rocks! it’s one of those movie that makes you remember why you love movies so much. visual candy…yes. light hearted humor…on point. meta message…yup it’s there. it was a perfect summer movie, and since it’s the first one, lets hope it’s not setting the bar too high. go see it!

and im done….for now

alligience

March 25, 2008

i’ve been in troubled relationship for awhile now. it seems like all i do is give and give. i’m understanding, tolerant, and have unconditional love for her. i always come to her defense and tell people why she’s great. but recently…its been getting harder. This one way relationship has drained me so much. i still love her but im so tired. tired for all the constant bickering, the hypocrisy, of having my voice silence. i dont have freedom anymore to do what i want, go where i please, do as i see fit. i feel trap…and why? i have not done anything wrong. if someone can just tell her to please open up her eyes and go back to how she use to be; a warm, caring, loving country once again. then again…maybe i’ve been the one that’s been blind all this time.

please someone explain to me how…

March 17, 2008

1) CEO’s of supposedly troubled companies in troubled industries still manage to net ridiculous sums of money. we are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars to one man when apparently the company is in billions of dollars of debt. people are losing jobs, the economy is suffocating, and yet it’s never ending.

2) Bush and Chaney have not been impeach yet? no need for explanations here.

3) I’m still waiting on that check from BDI, Ryan, and the government? i need some money!

4) I manage to snag up the prettiest most awesomely funny and cool chick in the world? cause between u and me…i dont deserve her.

5) though people are relatively smart (least the ones i’m around), how can it be that cumulatively, we’r all so stupid?

another idea

February 11, 2008

Here’s a simple idea for all the studios, networks, producers, and writers that just saw the strike ended. why not release all you work free…online? Now now before you all get your panties in a bunch consider this, google, yahoo, myspace, facebook, youtube, paypal, etc are all free (for the most part) and they are all worth billions. How can they do this? simple…they know that it’s all about quantity. The more people that use their service, the greater they appeal to advertisers. To gain this they 1) must make it free, and if not free, then at least a small membership fee, and 2) post all their products online or thru other ventures. Now when i said “all” i dont just mean all the shows they have currently in production, shows that was on this week, last week, even last season. No i mean ALL their shows. Shit they have in the vault…old school shit…the good shit. I would love to watch Small Wonder or Out of This World again. And when i have kids, I want them to experience Bill Nye the Science Guy and Square One TV. Show like Gillian’s Island and I Love Lucy are classics and I am certain that if networks release these, their demographic will grow and so will their company.

here’s a few ideas

February 4, 2008

i still have no idea why these laws are not in effect:

1) Other than what i stated earlier about having votes done on more than one day and/or on a weekend to allowed for higher turn outs, how bout we have runoff voting. for those that don’t know what it is check this out, or for those more visual people…the youtube version. it just makes sense.

2) A tax allocation system base on the citizen not the government. This is somewhat already embedded within our democratic system. We elect our representatives who in turn decides where they want to put our money. There are also ballot and initiatives that citizens directly vote on. But it needs to go further than that, because as it is now, my tax money, is not going into ANYthing i wish. Not into healthcare, not into education, not into innovation. what it is going to…the WAR. fuck that shit. this new system will allow me to specifically tell the government what i want my tax dollars going into. Now im not talking about all of taxes, i know that i’m not the brightest bulb in the bunch and there may be other sectors i have yet to acknowledge…but that is way this system is perfect. there will be others with different priorities and that fine. because they can give their money to whatever case they chose. also, lobbyist now have to deal/bride the entire population, not just the handful of politicians. Furthermore, i’m only suggesting to do this with our income tax…our taxes on sales and exports are still up for grabs. for more info, check this out.

3) Staying on taxes, the cuts that have been issued, and the refunds that are coming to us…you can keep it. dont give me my own money and say it a gift. and done expect me to be spending it either…our country lifeline is not spending…it is innovation. We have been in debt for far too long and i do not see anyway it will change unless we do something different. one simple suggestion would be to take all that money that will be going to every tom, dick, and joe, and the tax cuts for the Donald, Xavier, and Gregory, and put it in a fund. with this fund…you will award people who show their geniuses, their innovations, and passions for the greater good of the world and GIVE THEM MONEY. for example: give the guy who pick up plastic bags on the street and depose of them properly like $5 a pound. Or the company that founded a new way to destroy those bags without using fossil fuel to pollute the atmosphere a contract with the government to do so nationwide. How about a simple plane ticket home for a missionary who’s been building schools in Africa? Or perhaps give a professor a grant for his in dept studying into African conflicts and how to ease them? This and many more things can be accomplishes if we (us and out government) would just think, or at least keep an open mind.

VOTE!!!

February 1, 2008

i only wished i can. For those who know me, this might sound like a surprise but i do not vote, and have never. in fact, I’m not even register yet (to my disappointment). I’ve made the excuses of “my vote wont matter” and the notorious “the establishment fooled you into believing that you have a voice” argument. and tho i do believe that these assessments holds some trues…in general, i just did not feel motivated to do so. until 3 months ago.

The primary was just about to start and we were in a dawn of a new time. a time for change, but more importantly, a time for progress. Finally, a black man and a woman have a real chance of becoming the next president of these United States. My sense of patriotic duty heighten as we as citizens will finally join the racks of other nation that have fully and wholehearted welcomed equal opportunity for all gender and races. i was, and haven’t been for a very long time, proud to be an American. So i man up, and did my civictorial duty, and registered to vote…or so i thought.

There’s a big push for people to vote, one such movement is the Rock the Vote campaign that generally aims for the younger crowned, letting them know that “this is their country, and they can make a difference”. I bought in, hell i was rite in their target range (18-29). with my web savvy skillz and did all my registration on their site, and upon my completion, i waited for the mailed in portion to finish the process. i waited and waited. i know they said give it 6-10 weeks, so i did. I’ve been listening and reading intensively at the race, it becoming more neck and neck and neck so i thought to myself, “damn, maybe my one vote will count,” i was so please i can not express my gratitude for the democratic process into words.

fast forward a few more weeks and I’m still waiting for the damn mail. Feb 5th is coming and damn i want to vote! damn this all to hell. i give the LA registrar office a call asking if i can be expecting my form and/or ballot and/or finalization papers to come it. “Sorry sir we do not have you in our system” was what they had to said. “excuse me?” i replied. this went on for a few more minutes and it was getting nowhere. i finally asked if i can register now over the phone, or come in person to do this, but apparently, u can not register over that phone (paper only) and coming in person (with all the forms of ID in the world) will still not let me be able to vote on Feb 5th. i tried giving the other voter departments and multiple Rock the Vote offices a call and it was either a) same answer b) wrong number or c) a machine would hang up on me for no reason.

My questions:

why is it so hard to vote? not the kind of hard like 1960, but the kind of hard like scratching your back. It should be automatic, easy, efficient. people have already bled and died for this. and though i will just be consider a lazy ass that knows nothing about real struggle and didn’t get his shit together in time, im still speaking the truth. when it come down to it…i am a citizen, i can prove it, in person, i have a opinions about the candidates and issues that are on the ballot. LET ME VOTE! how screw up is it that it will take 2 months for someone to register over the mail because they have a family they need to take care of? how idiotic is it that with all legitimate and legal documentations proving i am who i say i am, i still cant vote if i presented it to your face on the day the voting take place? and on top of that…why the hell is it that the voting day always falls on a weekday? i have to fucken work retard! yeah it mandates companies to let u have time off, but seriously, do u not see the complications with this. have it on a weekend…shit have it going for more than just one day. why just one day huh? are u afraid a lot of ppl just might show up? same thing with if you were to change the process of registering?

this whole episode has refueled my cynicism for the our government, my worth, and people’s rights. I guess theres always the general.
